From April 30 to May 1, the Sejong RISE Project Group at Korea University Sejong Campus held the “2026 Academic Year Sejong Handuri Supporters 1st Inauguration Ceremony and Orientation” at Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do.

The Sejong RISE Project Group at Korea University Sejong Campus (Vice Chancellor Yang Jiwoon) held the "2026 Inaugural Orientation and Launch Ceremony of the Sejong Handuri Supporters, 1st Cohort" from 30 April to 1 May, over one night and two days, at the Belpore Resort in Jeungpyeong-gun, North Chungcheong Province.

The Sejong Regional Innovation System and Education (RISE) initiative is a collaborative undertaking between Sejong Special Self-Governing City and local universities, with the aim of dismantling institutional barriers between institutions and cultivating talent aligned with regional industry needs. A central objective of the initiative is the establishment and operation of the Sejong-model shared university, "Handuri Campus", an educational innovation model in which universities within the region share their lectures, research capabilities, and infrastructure, effectively operating the entire city as a unified campus.

The "Handuri Supporters," launched on this occasion, is a student-led promotional body formed to raise awareness of and encourage participation in Handuri Campus. Its membership comprises enrolled students from Korea University Sejong Campus, Hongik University Sejong Campus, Korea University of Media Arts, Chungbuk National University, and Hanbat National University. A total of 30 students were selected for the inaugural cohort, with selection reflecting the distinct characteristics and strengths of each participating institution. The Supporters are expected to promote the diverse programs and achievements of Handuri Campus through inter-university exchange and cooperation.

The launch ceremony was designed to serve as the starting point for the Supporters' activities and included special lectures and networking programs aimed at strengthening participants' capacity for self-e-x-p-r-e-s-s-i-o-n, communication, and creative thinking.

Going forward, the inaugural cohort will participate in inter-university exchange programs and community engagement activities. Through domestic and international training programs, members will deepen their understanding of future strategic industries and AI Transformation (AX) and are expected to play a leading role in spreading awareness of the values and outcomes of Handuri Campus from the perspective of young people.

Yoon Seokmu, Director of the Sejong RISE Centre, stated "The Handuri Supporters serve as a vital link in communicating the values of Handuri Campus in the language of the youth. We will provide full support to help enrolled students at the participating universities take the lead in planning content, engaging directly in the field, and growing into key contributors to the expansion of Sejong's shared educational ecosystem."
